Jean Grolier’s story is of an avid collector becoming an expert creator. Grolier (1479–1565) was a brilliant collector of decorative books, which he amassed into one of the largest private libraries in the world. This address book is based on one of Grolier’s final commissions – gold-tooled marbled brown leather with an interlaced curving design of single-line fillets.
