The designs recreated in the Old Leather range were introduced to Europe via eastern trading routes during the peak of Renaissance-style binding. This period of classical revival saw finely crafted Moroccan leather embellished with handtooled gold and these eastern designs brought a lightness of design which was not before found in medieval bookbinding.
